Alarm Testing

It is very important to test your alarm system regularly to be sure you are fully protected. Testing can be done fairly quickly by completing the following steps:

  1. Call your Sentry Security monitoring station (the number is listed on your security system central station card) and ask them to place your system on test. You will need your account number and passcode when calling.
  2. Arm your system.
  3. Open and close the front door to simulate leaving. While waiting for the system to arm itself, make sure you remain still.
  4. Open and the doors and windows to trigger the alarm.
  5. Disarm your system.
  6. Call the Sentry Security monitoring station after 15 minutes and ask the following:
    • Did they receive alarms for your system?
    • Did all the zones restore? (All windows and doors must be closed.)
    • Ask to have your system placed back in service.
